What is a Print Shop?
The humble print shop has been around for a while, even as far back as the 15th-century small local print shops started popping up due to the invention of the moveable type printing press by Johannes Gutenberg in about 1450.
These printing presses were smaller than today’s large run lithographic presses that are designed to operate mechanically. They look like pieces of furniture, and would be on display in the print shop in pride of place, rather than tucked away in the back.
Print shops were, much like today, the place that people and small businesses went to get their printed materials – flyers, posters and business cards etc.
